We Dream of Jeanne

Feb. 3, 2012

The word genius gets tossed around a lot, but architect Jeanne Gang is an actual MacArthur Genius grant awardee. Harvard grad, and maybe more importantly, Rem Koolhaus grad, Jeanne Gang is on every who's who list of who's next in design innovation. Although it seems everything Jeanne and her collegues at Studio Gang are up to is spectacular, she is most renowned for the amazing, undulating Aqua tower in Chicago.

New Yorker architecture critic Paul Goldberger said the almost 2 million square foot skyscraper "reclaims the notion that thrilling and beautiful form can emerge out of the realm of the practical". This month's ELLE Decor declares Jeanne Gang's undulating Aqua Tower facade "changed the conversation". The magazine named her one of its eight Rising Stars, but we think her star is already shining bright, strong and evanescent. We're beyond thrilled to count Studio Gang among our clients and can't wait to see what's next.

Meanwhile, you can get a little inspiration of your own when Jeanne and other brilliant minds (urban planners, economists, educators, journalists, conservationists, even lawyers!) gather at MOMA on February 17 for the Public Dreams and Private Needs Symposium.
