Carini Lang in Interior Design Magazine

Mar. 7, 2013

As the old saying goes: "Any press is good press." That's especially true when the coverage is coming from our friends at Interior Design Magazine. We received a stellar feature about our collaboration with artist Timothy Paul Myers in the February 2013 issue of the publication.

After being introduced to Myers' work by Todd Masters of Masters & Pelavin, Joe began to conceptualize designs for carpets based off the artist's pieces. Myers creates his art using long-lost pieces of mail, postcards, and trading cards from the early 20th century. Three carpets comprised the first set of designs and we look forward to collaborating on more carpets in the future.

Editors Who Love Animals

Nov. 7, 2012

We're so happy when Joe Carini's timeless animal prints find their way into trend stories and onto decorating pages in the country's top shelter titles. Our tigers and zebras with their distinctive and often high-color stripes have been selected recently by editors whose taste we love and whose pages are a visual feast. In September, the very fabulous Tori Mellott of Traditional Home highlighted Tiger Caramel in a truly fun piece about style through the decades. Editor in Chief Ann Maine has been taking Traditional Home to new heights of design coverage this year, and Tori and her team bring it all together in product columns that make us wish and dream. One of Joe's all-time favorite eras is the 70's and Tiger Caramel looked right at home with Tori's roundup of 70s style:

And, on newsstands now, the festive and truly beautiful November/December issue of Veranda is the venue for Zebra Indigo. Editor in Chief  Dara Caponigro elected to festoon both front and back covers with holiday entertaining beauty shots and the entire issue follows suit and is simply gorgeous. Veranda's Tori Jones put Zebra Indigo on a page where we want, well everything.

Geometrics in the News: Joe's Hexagon Blue

Mar. 19, 2012

Featured right now in ELLE Decor's April issue and on elledecor.com, a style story that's a hex of great read!

Joe's blue hexagon carpet in 6' x 9' pure silk, dyed with genuine indigo and other rare botanicals fits right in to this trend toward graphic patterns in bright bold hues. Thanks to Parker Bowie, Anita Sarsidi and Michael Boodro, the dream team, for including us!

We Heart Design Bloggers

Mar. 5, 2012

With headlines like "Five Seductive Kitchen Faucets" and "Romantic Utility: Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen," lifestyle consultant Andie Day's blog is a tasty compendium of style and design. We also love her good advice: "Spend your money where it will matter most. Buy the best quality rugs and carpets you can because quality means they will last longer. Splurge on a hand-knotted wool or silk rug because it will last generations." Carini Lang is featured today in a profile in Andie's "Inspiration" section, and we're pleased to be in the good company of other inspiring home and fashion brands whose latest collections are currently among Andie's headliners, such as the great French trim house Houles whose outrageous trim is featured above. She also reviews the latest from the fine Italian linen house of Frette and fashion designer Marios Schwab.

GET GOING, MADEMOISELLE

Feb. 27, 2012

Design blogger Mari Rose of the fabulous GET GOING GIRL team says Joseph Carini's Pivoines is "an interior focal point just waiting to happen." Well said. See this and GGG'S tons of other wonderful design-minded posts, like the one on the Brooklyn Museum's lantern slides on the Paris Exposition of 1900. We can't help but wonder if Joe's "Pivoines" would have made a sensation there, too.

New York Design, Coming in May!

Feb. 13, 2012

If you love New York magazine's twice yearly design editions, you're going to be over the moon for this. A whole magazine, 125+ pages devoted to design coverage. One of our favorite shelter editors, Wendy Goodman, is getting a freestanding platform to show us even more of what's wonderful about New York design. The magazine, debuting in May is, according to the marketing promo, going to offer up "a fresh approach to design, with exclusive access to the city's most amazing spaces, insider advice and tips from the city's hottest designers, and an essential resource guide to the very best in the design industry." Wow.

Connecticut Gets Colorful & New York Gets Kendell

Feb. 9, 2012

We love Connecticut Cottages & Gardens' Editorial director DJ Carey's lively curatorial eye in the February issue as she explores Bold & Bright carpet designs. It is hard to look through it and not feel inspired. Plus, we spy Joseph Carini's new Hot Pink Zebra top row center!

The design community is super excited, too, about the upcoming launch of New York Cottages & Gardens with univerally beloved and highly respected editor Kendell Cronstrom at the helm. Kendell is also the editor in chief of Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, and has had turns at some other top shelter and lifestyle publications, always with a keen eye for what inspires and what works in home design at the highest level.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Cottages & Gardens CEO and Publications Director Marianne Howatson and Kendell, and they are truly up to big things. Sad to report, I have zero scoop on the contents of the first issue, which they are keeping tightly under wraps for now. I am looking forward to the pre-launch party of the debut March 2012 issue next week, and will circle back then with more scoop then.

House & Garden UK: Gimme Shelter Like This

Feb. 3, 2012

The March issue of British House & Garden has a light, bright next-gen well story on Vincent Frey's super-fab Paris home that's anything by traditional. Their fresh takes on interational design have us craving more.

Last summer Joe and I had the distinct pleasure of hosting a visit to the showroom by British House & Garden Publisher Kate Slesinger and associate publisher Liz Jeans. What a treat. While I confess to adoring everything British, I swear that wasn't it. Smart, savvy and funny, the UK ladies wowed us with their knowledge of everything from fashion (Kate is late of British VOGUE, after all) to culture and design. They showed us some thick, glossy, drop-dead gorgeous issues of the magazine and we were hooked. Check it out for yourself.

Also in March, this spread on a home in the 'bu by architect Craig Ellswood. And the garden coverage is transportive. Magical.

Python Couture: Our latest rug is fashion’s darling

Oct. 21, 2011

Joe Carini wasn’t thinking about trends when he created this new Haute Couture Collection carpet, but the one-of-a-kind rug, now on display in our showroom, is as runway-ready as any python handbag or shoe. Here it is, featured at the upper right, in a trend piece by ELLE Decor in the October issue. The delicious golden color of this rug actually glistens just like the finest glazed python.

Mood Indigo: ELLE Decor thinks our coco drum is bangin’

Aug. 15, 2011

We’re feelin’ the love from the editors of ELLE Decor these days, and we say: Right back at you, ELLE Decor editors!!  Check  out the product pages in the September issue for Joe Carini’s newest coloration of the classic Signature Collection piece Coco Drum.

It's all freshened up in that very particular blue that can only come from pure, natural indigo. No synthetic, not even that which graces your favorite jeans, (no matter how great they make your tushie look) could be nearly as bewitching as this pure silk carpet.

Bryant Archie, and our own co-founder and Creative Director, Joe Carini.

Veranda Redefines the Meaning of “Dream Home”

Apr. 29, 2011

We’re fans of Dara Caponigro’s editorial viewpoint in VERANDA magazine. In April she covered the return of romance. Her team gathered stories of homes, each beautiful and sophisticated, but that wasn’t the point. In each place, the realization of the home’s design in some way helped facilitate another wish or dream of the homeowner that seemingly was unrelated to the home – career, relationship, artistic fulfillment. Sigh. That’s what it’s all about, right?

ZEIT via SATELLITE

Apr. 29, 2011

Joseph Carini’s carpets, especially his most elaborate and complex contemporary works, have been gaining quite an international following, and the foreign press have been taking notice. Most recently, Germany’s über-smart ZEIT MAGAZIN (Time Magazine) featured Joe’s NYC Satellite Rug from the recently launched Map Series.

We were delighted when The New York Times featured our clients’ Manhattan apartment and the round, grey, silk rug we custom-made just for their sleek, chic living room. We’re always impressed by the spectacular taste level and sophistication of our clients, and also by how many of you are discerning collectors of art and fine design. Jayma Cardoso and Scott Campbell have a gorgeous sanctuary indeed, and we wish them every happiness there. See the full article and slideshow here.

Former Magazine Editor Creates Rug Design

Karen Singh's Key to My Heart Rugs
Karen Singh's Key to My Heart Rugs

Karen Singh, an interior designer who has worked for firms as broad-ranging as Hardy Hotlzman Pffiefer and MTV has designed a new area rug. Joseph Carini got to know Karen when she was the Market Editor at the esteemed design trade publication Interior Design. When she started her own product design firm, the two began discussing which of her designs might make a great rug. Aptly named “Key to my Heart,” the first in this series inspired by everyday objects offers rich contrast: whimsy and geometry, silken glimmer and woolly warmth, nature’s bare fibers and rich botanical color. They rugs are hand-knotted of chunky, sweater-y wool and sumptuous, sleek banana-silk in standard or custom sizes and rich botanically-dyed colors from Joseph Carini’s signature palette. Designed by Karen Singh and available through Carini Lang. To learn more about Karen: http://www.karensinghdesigns.com

Houston's "Paper City" found Ocean Jasper at Carol Piper
Houston's "Paper City" found Ocean Jasper at Carol Piper

The widely read fashion/style/design pages of Houston’s “Paper City” newspaper are beautifully curated, so we were pleased when design editor Holly Moore highlighted Joe’s Ocean Jasper rug. We don’t offer our designs just anywhere, because ordering a custom Carini Lang carpet is something that requires the utmost care and attention to detail, but we’re proud to be represented in the Lone Star state by Houston’s esteemed Carol Piper showroom. Check out some cool historical rug design articles by Carini Lang alum Ryan Reitmeyer on their blog if you’re into neoclassical design and/or eagles.

Daily News Profile of Carini Lang

Aug. 19, 2010

You may be surprised to learn which New York daily is running comprehensive and often unexpected coverage of the design scene. The Daily News via Real Estate Correspondent Jason Sheftell has fun and comprehensive coverage of a diverse array of design topics. Jason covers designers, architects, events, homes, commercial spaces and manufacturers in the design industry in an articulate, approachable and pop-culture-savvy style. And we’re not just saying that because he profiled us so brilliantly on three full color pages in a recent issue. If you’re not reading Jason every Friday in the Daily News, your weekend is missing it’s design-fix kickoff.

Swedish Fish Love Ocean Jasper

Aug. 19, 2010

We don’t speak Swedish, but we were flattered when he design editor of Gods & Gardar (Manor Homes & Castles) decided that Joe’s Ocean Jasper rug would speak the international language of good design in the pages of this very elegant publication.

Connect(icut) the Dots

Aug. 13, 2010

Super-smart and ultra-chic design coverage by editor DJ Carey and her team helps distinguish Connecticut Cottages & Gardens as one of the savviest regional shelter books in the country. We also love that she celebrates carpets with such enthusiasm. In February, DJ selected Joe’s innovative “Dots” in natural white silk and wool. We think it would look fabulous in any of the Nutmeg state’s stately or casual interiors, whether traditional, transitional or contemporary. Often imitated, this is the original and now a signature Carini Lang look.

If you can make it in New Hampshire…

Our clients' new living room in New Hampshire
Our clients' new living room in New Hampshire

We love that our clients recently moved all of their custom Joseph Carini carpets from their Manhattan loft to a truly amazing loft in New Hampshire where they are equally at home. It proves our theory that if you love a piece of art, a piece of fine furniture or a carpet, it will have a place in any home you create over your lifetime, and possibly for generations to come. We love the emotional attachment that people have to Joe’s work, and enjoy being a part of what makes a house a home. New England Home covered their story, enjoy the slideshow, and may we add, kudos to the home’s team of  design pros, Dann Norris Batting Architecture and Jeanne Duval of Towne Interiors who put it all together.
