A walk through the Carini Lang showroom is enough to broaden anyone’s perception of the word “art.” Joseph Carini, designer and creative force behind the company, weaves artistry and passion into every fiber of the rugs at Carini Lang.

A native of Brooklyn, Joe graduated from the Pratt School of Design. While studying, he developed a fascination with antique carpets and the history behind them – their culture, designs, and techniques.

Joe dedicated fifteen years to researching and sourcing materials in Nepal and Tibet before his first carpet ever entered production. From start to finish, he is still involved in every stage of the process at Carini Lang. The designs are Joe’s original work, translated into the medium of carpet and woven using ancient methods.

Joe focuses on preserving the centuries-old artisan system of weaving. He insists on maintaining these traditional techniques as pieces of living history. Such authentic things are quickly fading from our modern world. His dedication has positioned Carini Lang as one of the last carpet makers in the world still using these original Tibetan weaving methods.
